Love Till It Hurts

The other night my two kids were reciting their memory verses to Jen and me. There was a line that stuck out to me.

“Do everything in love.”

I have really been thinking about this. How do I do everything in love? I mean everything?

I don’t love everything. I don’t want to love everything.

Some things just make me mad. Some things I just hate.

But notice the scripture doesn’t say, “Do everything as if you love it” or “Do everything you love.”

It says, “Do everything in love.”

When you think about the things you love, you realize you give all that you have and all that you are to that thing or that person.

You hold nothing back.

Maybe that is what the scripture is getting at. Everything you do, put the same energy, the same drive into it, as what you love.

Do it without holding back. Give everything that you are and everything you have to it.

If we would do that, I think we would see communities formed and lives changed.

“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.” – Mother Teresa

What do you love?
