Unless, Dr. Seuss, Change & Jesus

Gandhi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Yet the world around us doesn’t seem to be changing. In fact at times it seems like it has gotten worse.

Each generation that passes reminisces about the “good ole days”. Each generation feels like the next generation is that much worse.

But a man I knew once said, “The world isn’t getting worse; it’s just getting smaller.”

Maybe change isn’t happening because enough of us don’t care. Harsh, but rings of some truth. I know I don’t care enough about a lot of things I should.

Maybe things don’t change because we don’t work together for a greater cause.

Maybe things don’t change because we feel the problems are just too big and one person cannot possibly make things any better.

But a man named Jesus didn’t believe any of that and he set out to change the world and begin a movement to set things right again.

And ever since then many have followed in his name to do just that. Mistakes have been made, impostors have crept in, but many are striving to make the world a better place; to set things back to their original garden state.

All it takes is one person to care a lot about something to start the ripple effects of change.

So, the question is, what do you care about?

UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better. It’s not.
– Dr. Seuss
