Spiritual Vanity

We all like to look good! Admit it.

We all want to be that person that looks in the mirror and say, “Wow, that person is hot!”

So what do we do? We put time in the gym, we eat the right things, we go to bed at a descent time so that we get proper rest.

And we do it all so that we will look good and feel good about ourselves.

Or maybe, some of you are like me and I just think about doing those things instead of really doing them.

Our spiritual life is very similar. We know in order to be “spiritually hot” we have to spend time with God, build a relationship with Him through His word and through prayer. We need to take what we learn and are experiencing and put it into practical parts of our lives, so that the results are evident to us and those around us.

Many of us just think about doing those things instead of doing them. But then we expect the results to still happen. Kind of like me thinking about eating right and working out and expecting to wake up tomorrow with a six pack and bulging biceps.

The fact is, it is not going to happen like that. If I want to get in shape, I’m going to have to get up, work hard and make smart choices.

If I want my life to reflect that of Jesus, I am going to have to get up, work hard and make smart choices.

It’s time for us to care as much about our spiritual vanity as we do our physical vanity.

It’s time for us to stop thinking about making a change and actually make one.

Ready…Set…Go!
