Guns, Gays & The Good News

This is not a blog about gun control, although some good cases could be made on both sides of the argument I’m sure.

This is not a blog about gay rights, although I’m sure many of you might have opinions on the subject.

This is a blog about the Good News or rather the lack of the Good News.

I have seen more articles in the last few months about why we should have stricter gun control or why we should have looser gun control or why we should keep gun control the same.

I have seen people use hurtful arguments and pictures to prove their point.

Over the last few months I have seen more articles as to why we should allow gay marriage or why we should stand up against gay marriage.

I have seen people use extremely hateful ads and arguments to prove their points, no matter the cost.

We all have the right to freedom of speech. We all the right to our opinions and expressing those opinions.

But let me ask this question: in all our freedom of speech and in all our opinions, where is Jesus?

I wonder what this world would look like if we spent as much, no more time, speaking up about Jesus as we do guns and gay rights?

I wonder what the world would look like if we simply loved as Jesus loved? If we served as Jesus served? If we healed as Jesus healed?

Where is Christ in our speech? Where is Christ in our hearts? Where is Christ in our lives?

I know I have failed to be Jesus on so many occasions.

I confess that I fail over and over to love as Jesus did.

But looking at all we talk about lately it’s got me thinking; there’s got to be a better way.

So maybe we could spend a little less time talking about opinions and a lot more time talking about Jesus.

I think that would change the world!

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
